day 22

Today in class we talked and worked on our projects. Some of the project was a powerpoint,
Ranged weapons
Swords
Shields Spears
Helmets
Body armor
The Greeks used several types of ranged weapons such as bow and arrows Javelins and slings. Even though the bow was uncommon among Greek war some troops treated their arrows by thrusting them into rotting corpses, thus creating a crude form of biological weapon. Peltast troops commonly used javelins, and hoplites and cavalry troops were also often equipped with javelins for throwing. They often used a tool called the amentum. The amentum helped increase the javilineer The type of Body armor used was a heavy bronze chest plate. This was the most common type of armor worn at the time. Greeks word for armor was "thorax." The solders wanted to protect their torso but have their arms and legs and free and comfortable as possible. The chest plate did not go all the way down to their waste,  to allow them to bend freely. The original armor was surprisingly light, it weighs about six pounds, and have about a millimeter of metal. But the more thicker and heavier armor weighed in at about 12 pounds. The modern representation of the armor is overestimated is weight. They make is too long, too wide, and too thick.
